June 22 & 23 Land Use Plan Community Vote Results: NO (86 votes) vs YES (85 votes)
Thank you for your engagement in the Community Vote on the K’ómoks Land Use Plan (LUP)
After incorporating extensive community input and feedback, staff reviews and leadership guidance, we presented the updated LUP to community for member consideration. We shared additional details in a number of ways: in community meetings, Zoom meetings, and at family meet-up dinners.
On June 22 and 23, we had more than 58% member turn-out for this community vote. The vote was very close, with 86 votes for NO, and 85 votes for YES. As a result, this LUP has not been passed.
Since adopting a Land Use Plan is a requirement of Land Code, we will be formulating a new plan to go out to community to better understand questions and concerns that may have been missed this time around, and ensure we capture those moving forward.
Every member who attended one of our engagement sessions had their name included in our prize draw. Congratulations to our winners: Rachelle Antoine won the $1,000 VISA gift cards and Emma Frank won the $500 gift card to iHos Gallery.
