POSITION: Full-time Accounting Clerk

LOCATION: K’ómoks Administration Building

REPORTS TO: Director of Finance

SALARY RANGE: $20.83-25.32 per hour (based on a 35-hour week)

About the Role

K’ómoks First Nation is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accounting Clerk to support the Finance Department with a wide range of accounting and payroll responsibilities.

Reporting to the Director of Finance, this position plays a key role in processing financial transactions, preparing reports, maintaining records, and assisting with audits, compliance filings, and employee payroll support.

What You’ll Do:

  • Maintain accurate financial records and reconcile banking files and reports
  • Process accounts receivable/payable and monthly invoices for rent, utilities, etc.
  • Administer bi-weekly payroll and related adjustments, including employee inquiries
  • Prepare records of employment (ROEs), T4s, and Receiver General filings
  • Serve as plan administrator and liaison for group benefits and pension plans
  • Support property tax cycle and financial audit preparation
  • Track and reconcile monthly expenses and revenues
  • Prepare bank deposits and credit card transactions
  • Maintain financial policies, procedures, and organized filing systems
  • Support new employee onboarding and payroll file setup
  • Ensure compliance with WCB, OSFI, and EAHOR reporting requirements
  • Take minutes for Financial Advisory Committee meetings
  • Assist with various administrative and clerical financial tasks as needed

What You Bring:

  • Diploma or certificate in accounting or bookkeeping (required)
  • 5+ years of direct accounting or bookkeeping experience
  • PCP (Payroll Compliance Professional) Designation from the National Payroll Institute (required)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word) and financial software (e.g., Xyntax, Sage Intacct, etc.)
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Cultural sensitivity and awareness of First Nations governance and community dynamics
  • Experience working in and with Indigenous communities is preferred
