tul’al’txw NIC Student Housing – Opening Celebration
Join us for the official opening of the NIC student housing at the Comox Valley campus and the unveiling of the artwork done by KFN artists Pamela Mitchell and Trevor Hardy. All KFN community members are invited to join the celebration!
Opening Ceremony:
Date: Friday, September 19
Time: 9:30am – 12:00pm
Location: tul’al’txw housing complex, North Island College Comox Valley Campus, 2300 Ryan Road
KFN will provide transportation for community members to the event! If you would like to join, please meet the KFN Bus in the Health Centre parking lot on Friday, September 19 at 8:45am. The bus will depart at 9am.
The opening will include a K’ómoks First Nation and K’ómoks Connection Committee-led ceremony, including a blessing, naming, artist stories and community reflections.
Dancing and drumming will take place in the gathering place. We will do a Welcome dance, Ladies dance, Peace dance and Fun dance. We encourage all singers and dancers to come and support. Please be sure to bring your regalia!
Celebration and Community Conversation:

Time: 12:00pm – 3:00pm.
Location: tul’al’txw housing complex, North Island College Comox Valley Campus, 2300 Ryan Road
The afternoon celebration will include community conversation, with NIC, provincial and local representatives. This will be followed by a celebratory BBQ lunch, an opportunity to explore NIC’s 50th anniversary exhibit, and participate in community consultation activities.
We will have a bus available to shuttle community members from the Admin Office to the NIC Comox Valley Campus.
