TIMES TBD
*Registration Required: Deadline Monday July 8 * (12 spots – Ages 10+)
This immersive 5-day sleep-away culture camp will take participants to the heart of the Great Bear Rainforest; the perfect setting to connect more deeply to community and traditional practices. Hosted on Kwakwaka’wakw Territory, Nawalakw culture camp will focus on language revitalization (Kwakwala), connection to people, place, and land-based teachings.
The group will meet on Monday morning (time TBD) at KFN and depart by bus for Port McNeil, where we will meet the Nawalakw team. After boarding their boats, the adventure into the Great Bear Rainforest will begin.
The 5 days will be spent learning language, practicing culture and recreating on both land and water. The camp is outside of cell reception, so family contact will be limited to emergencies. To learn more, visit Nawalakw Culture Camp.
Location: KFN Gym (pick-up / drop-off times TBD)
Instructors: Nawalakw Team and KFN chaperones (Andrea MacDonald, Keenan Andrew, and Jessie Everson)
